It was just after Hari Raya Aidilfitri and it was almost impossible to find nasi lemak. But, thanks to Mak Tom’s Nasi Lemak in Food Republic, Pavilion KL, my taste buds for nasi lemak is saved.

Mak Tom’s Nasi Lemak
Mak Tom’s Nasi Lemak Chicken is surprisingly good, especially the sambal which is quite spicy. The rice is strongly scented with santan while the fried chicken is crispy enough.
Mak Tom’s Nasi Lemak Chicken is located in the middle of Food Republic, in Pavilion KL.

Mee Jawa stall in Pavilion’s Food Republic is often neglected by customers as it is located far at the back behind John King and besides Pan Mee stall.

Mee Jawa’s Mee Jawa
Mee Jawa as its name suggested, is famous with its Javanese noodles, or Mee Jawa in Bahasa Malaysia. The plate of Mee Jawa is huge as you can see from the picture comparative with the sppon and chopstick. Its taste is somehow rather mediocre and besides its humongous plate, there’s nothing really to shout about. Still, it’s better than Mee Jawa at Oldtown.

Mee Jawa’s Curry Laksa
Curry Laksa, on the other hand, is pleasant to eat, although I have to say its incredible hard to find one that’s as good as you can get from Penang.
Maybe Mee Jawa should be neglected, not just because of its location but of its food.
Price
- Mee Jawa – RM 8.50
- Curry Laksa – RM 7.20

If you fancy Taiwanese cuisine and don’t plan to fork out a bomb to pay for the food, Little Taiwan at the Food Republic in Pavilion KL is just the place to be.

Little Taiwan’s Stewed Beef Noodles
For just RM 3.90 (RM 4.10 including tax), you can get a bowl of lovely Stewed Beef Noodles. The pieces of stewed beef are delicious while the noodles are scrumptious despite the lack of spices. I other words, it’s healthy and yet, affordable. There is also an option of Stewed Beef Rice if you prefer rice instead of noodles.

Little Taiwan’s Tempura
Tempura is hot and crispy and is also delightful as a snack or even as your dinner — just add rice for RM 1.00 and it’s good to go.

Besides its mee siam and lonton, Toast Box also serves Curry Laksa.

Toast Box’s Curry Laksa
Toast Box Curry Laksa is different from others as it uses "Lao Shu Fen" or silver needle noodle instead or the normal yellow noodles. I have never seen anyone uses "Lao Shu Fen" for laksa but surprisingly though, it tastes quite good. You should give it a try!

There are many types of cuisine in Food Republic and Korean cuisine is one of them. Sam Sam is the name of the stall that serves Korean food.

Sam Sam’s Janchi-Guk Su (Non Spicy Noodles)
The Non Spicy Noodles also known as Janchi-Guk Su is scrumptious with generous quantity of seaweed adds to it.

Sam Sam’s Shin Ramyeon (Spicy Noodles)
Shin Ramyeon or known to us as Spicy Noodles are hot and spicy but yet tasty. It tastes a lot better than Ichiban Ramen’s Ramen noodles even though both are completely different type of noodles.

Toast Box is a kopitiam comparable to the likes of Daily Express, Hometown Kopitiam and Kluang Station. After the success of Toast Box in Mid Valley, which is owned by BreadTalk, a Singapore-based bakery, Toast Box branches out in Pavilion KL as well.

Toast Box @ Pavilion KL
Toast Box @ Pavilion KL looks better than the one in Mid Valley Megamall but it’s located within the crowded food court, Food Republic.

Toast Box’s Mee Siam Soup
Mee Siam Soup is quite up to the par except of course, it’s in soup. Despite that, it still tastes better than Kluang Station’s Mee Siam.

Toast Box’s Lonton
Meanwhile, Lonton is slightly below the average expected standard with nothing to shout about.

You may have had shredded chicken with porridge like the Shredded Chicken Porridge, but have you ever tried Shredded Chicken Macaroni before?

Sergeant Chicken Rice’s Shredded Chicken Porridge
Shredded Chicken Porridge is quite alright and have abundant shredded chicken meat that comes along with the porridge.

Sergeant Chicken Rice’s Shredded Chicken Macaroni
Having Shredded Chicken with Macaroni is quite odd as I have never tried eating Italian pasta this way (except fried spaghetti). It is quite a bore and tasteless, really.

Besides the Spicy Chicken Ramen, Ichiban Ramen also serves Udon noodles.

Ichiban Ramen’s Prawn Udon
Ichiban Ramen’s Prawn Udon is not as good as its Spicy Chicken Ramen as the Udon noodles are not cooked to perfection. The fried prawns are however delicious.

Pan Mee is located in Food Republic in Pavilion KL and serves food like pan mee dry and assam laksa among others.

Pan Mee’s Pan Mee Dry
Pan Mee Dry is true to its name — dry. The dryness of Pan Mee Dry is not too bad if you mix it with the soup that comes along with it. The overabundant of anchovies and small pieces of chicken bits overcome the dryness of the food.

Pan Mee’s Assam Laksa Penang
The Assam Laksa is delicious though it lacks the sourness most Assam Laksa has. Like the Pan Mee Dry, the fish meat is abundant and for the price of RM 6.90, it’s quite worth it.
