Besides the popular pork noodles, May Flower Food Court also has a variety array of food, that includes chee cheong fun. Unlike most chee cheong fun, this stall serves different styles of chee cheong fun, which include Ipoh style and the famous Penang style.

May Flower Seafood Restaurant and Food Court’s Ipoh Chee Cheong Fun

Ipoh Style Chee Cheong Fun is quite refreshing and different from the regular Penang chee cheong fun. Instead of having the sweet sauce, Ipoh style uses chili and dried prawns. The verdict? Pretty refreshing and delicious albeit the spicy taste.

May Flower Seafood Restaurant and Food Court’s Penang Chee Cheong Fun

Penang Style Chee Cheong Fun is also enjoyable and tasty. Unlike the one at the Gardens, these chee cheong fun only costs RM 3.00 and RM 2.00 for a smaller portion.

I would definitely come here again for the food and the service.

Gurney Drive is popular with its hawkers affair and have recently become a phenomenon in Penang where visitors from KL and as far as Singapore flock down to Gurney Drive just to sample its delicate array of food. The number of people frequenting Gurney Drive hawker stalls on weekends is quite high compare to many years ago and it can be a daunting experience to visit the ever so famous Gurney Drive just to sample Penang’s delicacy as finding a place to sit can be as difficult as finding a parking space in Kuala Lumpur shopping malls during the weekend. Furthermore, the quality of the food has drastically deteriorate over the years.

Gurney Drive’s Chee Cheong Fun

Gurney’s Drive Chee Cheong Fun fairs so much better than the flamboyant restaurant in The Gardens with the same name. From RM 2 for a small plate to RM 4 for large, you can eat until you vomit but you don’t have to pay RM 8 for a plate. What’s more important is a hawker food should be eaten in a hawker centre, if the patrons want to eat in an air-conditioned place, there is something called "take-away".

Gurney Drive’s Muar Chee

Muar Chee (Stall #55) serves Muar Chee and they are just so tasty. Just like many other stalls, there are a few options to choose from — small and large with the difference at only 50 cents.

Gurney Drive’s Fried Chicken

M Tucky Fried Chicken (Stall #100) serves delicious Fried Chicken, Fried Sotong, Fried Chicken Skin, Fried Sausage and more. They are incredibly crispy and the stall usually has really long queues. Even though the food tastes quite good, they are also incredibly unhealthy.

Gurney Drive’s Ais Kacang

There is however, nothing to shout about for the Ais Kacang (Stall #78). It is quite bland and the ingredients is quite minimal and even though there are usually a long queue at this stall, don’t be fooled and intimidated by the queue.

Gurney Drive’s Cendol

The Cendol is quite mediocre but it is definitely better than the Ais Kacang. Nevertheless, nothing beats the cendol in Cendol Klang. That’s for sure.

Gurney Drive’s Longan Tau Fa

Longan Tau Fa (Stall #76) is quite refreshing and unique as it is a cup of jelly and longan and is a better choice as dessert after a hearty meal at Gurney Drive.

Overall, Gurney Drive hawker stalls have changed so much over the decade. While the place is always filled with patrons, the number of eaters has gone up while the quality of the food has gone down. There are always other hawker stalls in Penang.

Chee Cheong Fun or Rice Noodle is everyone’s favorite. Nowadays, they are not only available in old-school kopitiam or motorcycle-cart but also in the shopping complexes. Log ‘n Roll Chee Cheong Fun is the first of its kind it Malaysia that sells Chee Cheong Fun in two concepts — Eat at the spot or Prepackaged / DIY.

Log ‘n Roll Cart in MidValley Megamall

The Marketing Director, Mr. Chaang Tuck Loong explained that most Chee Cheong Fun that are sold outside are not very hygienic while Log ‘n Roll aims to provide the best Chee Cheong Fun experience to its customers with its fresh, hygienic and innovative quality products.

Customers can choose to "Eat at the spot" or buy the "Prepackaged / DIY" Chee Cheong Fun that comes in variety flavors such as Classic, Dried Shrimp, Seaweed, Black Sesame, Oat and more. For "Eat at the spot", different type of sauces are available to choose from such as Black Sweet Sauce, Cheese Sauce, Curry, Soya Sauce, Mushroom Sauce and more.

The variety of sauces available for "Eat at the spot" customers

Personally, I like the Cheese Sauce. Even Mr. Chaang said most of his customers preferred the Cheese Sauce as it’s unique and you can’t buy it elsewhere.

Prepackaged / DIY Chee Cheong Fun

For those customers who would like to bring home the Chee Cheong Fun to share with their family members, and friends, you can buy Log ‘n Roll special ‘hygiene top seal pack’ available in 8 pieces. You only need to heat it up by either steaming and microwaving. The Chee Cheong Fun comes in two types — Flat and Round.
The coffee is worth it while the best thing here is the Nasi Lemak, of course. Though the price is a little high for Nasi Lemak in a kopitiam, the Nasi Lemak is quite enjoyable. Not the best around town though.

The Chee Cheong Fun is only so-so, I rather pay double to eat the Nasi Lemak. Then again, I rather pay double the price of the Nasi Lemak here and eat at Madam Kwan’s.
