Besides serving coffee and local delicacies, OLDTOWN White Coffee also has some western array in their menu.

Chicken Chop Set
Chicken Chop Set, which consists of Chicken Chop Rice and Fresh Lemon Tea (Hot or Cold) is something rare and perhaps a new item on the menu. The chicken chop is quite oily and is quite dry and bland as there isn’t any gravy that comes with it. Perhaps, OLDTOWN should stick with kopitiam food and not venture into territory it is not familiar with.
Price
- Chicken Chop Set (Chicken Chop Rice + Fresh Lemon Tea (Hot/Cold) – RM 9.80

KFC has recently introduced “Cheezy Chickaroni” to its menu. Cheezy Chickaroni consists of macaroni & cheese and chicken meatballs.

KFC Cheezy Chickaroni
Cheezy Chickaroni is no doubt a delicious meal with macaroni rich with cheese and four chicken meatballs which greatly compliment the cheesy taste.
Great news is that Cheezy Chickaroni is now part of KFC’s “Jom Jimat” (Set E) and for only RM 5.90, you also get a glass of regular soft drink. A la carte price is RM 5.80. A note though, Cheezy Chickaroni may not be enough for the big eaters.

- KFC Cheezy Chickaroni (Jom Jimat Set E) – RM 5.90
- KFC Cheezy Chickaroni (A la carte) – RM 5.80

Zen by Secret Recipe is a fusion restaurant and serves both Asian delights as well as Western food. The outlet at Sooka Sentral always seem to be populated with hungry office workers during lunch hours. However, although I find the food slightly more than mediocre, I find one of the waiters there not very friendly. He’s probably having a bad day but he shouldn’t bring it to work.
Most of the pasta available are merely mediocre, and perhaps is not worth the money spent. Spaghetti Carbonara with beef bacon strips may look delightful but it somehow lacks the taste most Carbonara has while the menu mentions Spaghetti Carbonara “with beef bacon”, the dish somehow has more mushrooms than bacon strips. Spaghetti Meatball is somehow more extraordinary with its pasta sauce on the spicier side. Perhaps this is due to the fact Zen is a fusion restaurant, hence, tomato + chili does make sense for a pasta meal. If you crave for pasta, I would recommend Delicious anytime.

Recently, Starbucks has introduced Power Lunch at Starbucks — delicious but power-packed lunch. Pasta Pie and Chicken & Mushroom Foccacia Sandwich at RM 9.50 and Quiche and Sherperd’s Pie at RM 6.50. These price are only applicable with purchase of any handcrafted drinks, i.e. Frappuccino.

Starbucks’ Pasta Pie
The Pasta Pie is delightful and a wholesome meal. For the price of RM 9.50, it’s almost like having two meals with Pasta Pie and it’s worth the money.

Inside Starbucks’ Pasta Pie
Inside the Pasta Pie is macaroni in red pasta sauce. They are really good.

Shepherd’s Pie (Black Pepper Chicken)
Shepherd’s Pie is equally as good. The pie has a center-filled of black pepper chicken and mushroom and it has a top layer of mash potato! Definitely a great mashup and it’s very tasty too.

- Pasta Pie – RM 9.50 (with any handcrafted drinks)
- Shepherd’s Pie (Black Pepper Chicken) – RM 6.50 (with any handcrafted drinks)

Tappers Cafe, which is located inside CapSquare in Jalan Munshi Abdullah is a charming colonial-designed café which offers great local and western cuisine.

Tappers’ Bacon Egg Sandwich
Nothing can go wrong with a Bacon Egg Sandwich. As such, Bacon Egg Sandwich at Tappers Cafe is quite decent. The bacon is crispy and the egg is fresh, it is quite a lovely sandwich.

Tappers’ Mini Chicken Chop Rice
Tappers’ Mini Chicken Chop Rice is quite blatant. The Chicken Chop is bland piece of chicken breast mixed with tomato sauce. The rice is also nothing spectacular.

Tappers’ Kopi Ping
Kopi Ping is quite delightful and perhaps is the only thing worth it in Tappers Cafe.
Overall, unless if you are really hungry or love colonial-designed cafe, this is not a worthy place to visit. There is always Coffee Bean on the opposite side of Tappers.

- Bacon Egg Sandwich – RM 4.50
- Mini Chicken Chop Rice – RM 7.80

Tags: Killiney Kopitiam, kopitiam, local food, nasi lemak
Killiney Kopitiam in Sooka Sentral also has a wider array of food to choose from in its menu compared to other Killiney Kopitiam in Malaysia.

Killiney Kopitiam’s Nasi Lemak Ayam Berempah
Nasi Lemak Ayam Berempah is one of the them. Nasi Lemak Ayam Berempah is quite decent and I must say it is even better than the infamous Nasi Lemak Panas Ayam Goreng in Bangsar. The rice is fragrant and the anchovies are crispy while the sambal is slightly on the sweet side rather than being spicy. The fried chicken is perfectly fried, except that it may be a little bit oily.

- Nasi Lemak Ayam Berempah – RM 8.90

Restoran Fathima’s Nasi Lemak Panas Ayam Goreng was once known as the best nasi lemak in the country due to the fact that it was the one of the first restaurants to introduce nasi lemak with hot fried chicken.

Restoran Fathima’s Nasi Lemak Panas Ayam Goreng
While the nasi lemak here is not exactly the best nasi lemak ever, it is somehow decent enough although slightly more pricey than most mamak restaurants that serve even better nasi lemak. There are certainly better ones as the search continues.

- Nasi Lemak Panas – RM 2.00
- Ayam Goreng – RM 3.00
- Nescafe Tarik – RM 1.30

Killiney Kopitiam which originates from Singapore has set foot in Malaysia with its Mid Valley branch many years back. Now, it has several branches in Malaysia and one of them is in Sooka Sentral.

Killiney Kopitiam’s Chicken Curry Rice
Chicken Curry Rice is quite fragrant and delicious and is comparable to Old Town’s Curry Chicken with Sticky Rice though both have different type of rice.

Killiney Kopitiam’s Cold Coffee
The Cold Coffee is quite “gao” and is a great drink with any meals. Good enough for a coffee lover like me.
Price
- Chicken Curry Rice – RM 7.90
- Coffee (Cold) – RM 2.90

Devi’s Corner, once a very popular hangout place in Bangsar Baru has shifted from Jalan Telawi 5 to Jalan Telawi 4 in the year 2008.

Devi’s Corner Nasi Lemak
Once voted as Malaysia’s best Nasi Lemak, though the quality has gone down tremendously since, the Nasi Lemak at Devi’s Corner now is better than it was a couple of years ago. The rice is fragrant and cooked to perfection with the santan while the sambal is just nice.

Devi’s Corner Roti Telur
Roti Telur “garing” is crispy and delicious, although I am not sure whether it’s softer if you don’t tell the waiter you want it “garing”. Most mamak stalls serve soft and fluffy roti canai but I prefer mine crispy.

Devi’s Corner Tosai Masala
Tosai Masala is not the best option of food when it comes to the food at Devi’s Corner. While the roti canai is still fine, the tosai has nothing out of the extraordinary and there is nothing to shout about.

Devi’s Corner Nescafe Tarik
Nescafe Tarik is made to perfection, not too sweet nor tasteless.
Overall, Devi’s Corner is your favorite mamak stall for a reason. Although the patrons are lesser nowadays, maybe come 2010 when the World Cup season is here, the thriving days of Devi’s Corner will return.
Price
- Nasi Lemak + Mata Kerbau – RM 2.50
- Roti Telur – RM 1.50
- Tosai Masala – RM 2.50
- Nescafe Tarik – RM 1.60
- Black & White Coffee – RM 5.90

Krispy Kreme has finally landed in Malaysia and its first flagship store was opened on Monday in Berjaya Times Square. Amidst being on a weekday, the number of people turned out was massive since the first person in the queue was awarded one year supply of Krispy Kreme!

Krispy Kreme’s packaging for the donuts

One Dozen of Krispy Kreme’s Glazed Donuts
Krispy Kreme’s Glazed Donuts is extremely sweet and definitely not for those who’s sugar-conscious.

One Dozen of Krispy Kreme’s Assorted Donuts
As for the Assorted Donuts, my pick would be both the Hershey’s coated donuts and New York Cheesecakes, they are delicious. The other flavors are pretty good too but mostly are just sweet.

Krispy Kreme’s Iced Americano
What’s better than to top it off with coffee like Iced Americano? Iced Americano is icy black coffee which means no milk and no sugar, which makes it balances off the amount of sugar you get from the donuts.
Price
- One Dozen Glazed Donuts – RM 19.90
- One Dozen Assorted Donuts – RM 23.90
- One Dozen Glazed Donuts + One Dozen Assorted Donuts – RM 37.90
- Iced Americano (Medium) – RM 6.00
