Bah Kut Teh @ Restoran Telok Pulai Bah Kut Teh

Teluk Pulai is well-known for its bah kut teh and Restoran Teluk Pulai Bah Kut Teh is one of the bah kut teh restaurants in Teluk Pulai.

Restoran Telok Pulai Bah Kut Teh’s Bah Kut Teh

In bah kut teh restaurants, the bah kut teh is usually served in claypot unless it is the dry version.

Restoran Telok Pulai serves Klang’s famous bah kut teh like the other bah kut teh’s restaurants in Klang. The only difference in this place is that it is quite pricey. RM 22.50 for two person and we didn’t even order any Chinese tea.

Overall, it is not the best place in town to try out for bah kut teh, unless the other bah kut teh restaurants in Klang are all closed and you’re from other towns and are desperate to try out Klang’s original bah kut teh.

Price

  • Claypot Bah Kut Teh + Yu Tiao for 2 person – RM 22.50

Address

Restoran Telok Pulai Bah Kut Teh,
27, Jalan Teluk Pulai,
41100 Klang, Selangor D.E., MALAYSIA.

Nasi Lemak – La Cucur @ KL Sentral Station

La Cucur Express has been in business for quite some time. They are well-known with their nasi lemak and kuih-muih. Besides its branch in Suria KLCC, La Cucur Express also operates in KL Sentral, which is located just besides 7-Eleven.

La Cucur Express' Nasi Lemak
La Cucur Express’ Nasi Lemak

Nasi Lemak in La Cucur Express is one of the best around town, especially for packed nasi lemak. The sambal is spicy and it is definitely not for those who can’t take spicy food. The rice is perfect, and sometimes, instead of boiled eggs, the nasi lemak comes with omelet eggs. The only problem is the portion of rice is quite small, maybe it’s not enough for big eaters.

La Cucur Express' Teh Tarik
La Cucur Express’ Teh Tarik

Teh Tarik tastes quite mediocre and is definitely not worth RM 2.00.

Overall, I would not mind paying RM 2.00 for the Nasi Lemak and eat it everyday for 365 days.

Price

  • Nasi Lemak – RM 2.00
  • Teh Tarik – RM 2.00

Address

La Cucur,
No. 4F, Level 1,
Stesen Sentral Kuala Lumpur,

Kim Gary Restaurant @ AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre

Kim Gary Restaurant is one of the few restaurants besides Oldtown White Coffee that is usually packed with patrons in AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre.

Kim Gary's Fried Pork Chop with Shanghai Style Vegetable Rice
Kim Gary’s Fried Pork Chop with Shanghai Style Vegetable Rice

Kim Gary Restaurant’s Fried Pork Chop with Shanghai Style Vegetable Rice served with Shanghai Style Soya Sauce is quite hearty and is one of the few dishes that is not oily. The fried pork chop is succulent and it is surprisingly satisfying.

Kim Gary's Hot and Spicy Noodles with Pork Chop in "Typhoon Shelter" Style
Kim Gary’s Hot and Spicy Noodles with Pork Chop in "Typhoon Shelter" Style

Hot and Spicy Noodles with Pork Chop in "Typhoon Shelter" Style is served in a huge bowl like in most Japanese restaurants. However, the noodles portion is extremely small compared to the bean sprouts, which occupied half the bowl. The curry is indeed spicy but there’s really nothing special about this.

Kim Gary's Coffee in Hong Kong Style (Cold)
Kim Gary’s Coffee in Hong Kong Style (Cold)

Coffee in Hong Kong Style (Cold) is quite mediocre compared to the coffee joints. Even though it’s only RM 2.80, I would prefer Oldtown White Coffee anytime. Furthermore, OLDTOWN White Coffee is only RM 3.20.

Kim Gary's Coffee in Hong Kong Style (Hot)

The same applies to Coffee in Hong Kong Style (Hot).

Price

  • Fried Pork Chop with Shanghai Style Vegetable Rice served with Shanghai Style Soya Sauce – RM 9.90
  • Hot and Spicy Noodles with Pork Chop in "Typhoon Shelter" Style – RM 12.90

Zinger Tower – KFC @ KL Sentral Station

KFC’s Zinger Tower is the latest offering from KFC. Zinger Tower is like Zinger burger with an additional slice of fish fillet. Zinger Tower is available at RM 6.60 a la carte or at RM 15.90 combo, which comes with a regular Pepsi Max, a Mango pudding and a Zinger time watch.

KFC's Zinger Tower
KFC’s Zinger Tower

Zinger Tower is not too bad, but I would still prefer the original Zinger burger at anytime because I cannot really taste the fish fillet due to the excessive taste the fried chicken fillet has which easily covers up the existence of the fish fillet.

Price

  • Zinger Tower (A la carte) – RM 6.60

Address

KFC,
No. 18, 19 & 20, Level 2,

Breakfast – Nasi Kandar Zafeeras @ Brickfields

Roti Canai is one of the best Malaysian breakfasts. Even the air carrier serves them while Malaysians living in overseas constantly buy the frozen ones when they are in Malaysia to bring overseas. Nasi Kandar Zafeeras is a mamak restaurant located just besides the KL Monorail and it is usually packed in the morning.

Nasi Kandar Zafeeras's Roti Telur
Nasi Kandar Zafeeras’s Roti Telur

Roti Telur at Nasi Kandar Zafeeras is quite satiating, even though I must say it is not the best roti telur I ever had. In my opinion, the best roti canai/telur is still from Penang.

Overall, the price at Nasi Kandar Zafeeras is still reasonable as compared to most places in KL and the food is decent enough.

Price

  • Roti Telur – RM 1.70
  • Nescafe Tarik – RM 1.40

Address

Nasi Kandar Zefeeras,
No. 104, Jalan Tun Sambathan,
Brickfields,

Breakfast – warongkita @ KL Sentral Station

warongkita is located in KL Sentral, just opposite Rasamas. warongkita is a traditional Malay-style kopitiam. You can find half-boiled eggs, toasts, coffee as well as nasi lemak and the likes in warongkita.

warongkita's Roti Bakar Kaya Kampung
warongkita’s Roti Bakar Kaya Kampung

Roti Bakar Kaya Kampung is quite good and better than I expected, even though my favorite is still Daily Express Toast Hainan.

warongkita's Kopi Kampung (Panas)
warongkita’s Kopi Kampung (Panas)

Kopi Kampung (Panas) is also quite good. It’s almost as good as the coffee in Chinese kopitiams. And it’s only RM 2.00, considering you’ll never get anything this cheap here.

Overall, the food is quite reasonable and the price is quite reasonable as comparing to many cafés and restaurants that serve breakfast around the premise.

Price

  • Roti Bakar Kaya Kampung – RM 1.80
  • Kopi Kampung (Panas) – RM 2.00

Address

warongkita,
No. 8, Level 1,

Curry Chicken Sticky Rice – Oldtown White Coffee @ AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre

Oldtown White Coffee has always been my favorite due to its affordable price compared to trendy cafés. Somehow Oldtown White Coffee at AEON Bukit Tinggi proved otherwise. Not only the food are slightly pricier, the services is just as bad. It takes nearly 10 minutes to order the food, even then, we didn’t get the menus we have asked for. We just gladly ticked the food we wanted from the order form.

Oldtown White Coffee's Curry Chicken Sticky Rice
Oldtown White Coffee’s Curry Chicken Sticky Rice

Curry Chicken Sticky Rice is quite nice and less oily compared to the glutinous rice in Meals. On the contrary, the curry chicken is quite oily and less satisfying.

Oldtown White Coffee's OLDTOWN Nasi Rendang Chicken
Oldtown White Coffee’s OLDTOWN Nasi Rendang Chicken

As usual, OLDTOWN Nasi Rendang Chicken is up to par as it is one of OLDTOWN’s signature dish. Somehow, it is pricier than the Nasi Rendang Chicken at Bandar Bukit Tinggi. Maybe they have raised their price.

Oldtown White Coffee's Mocha White Coffee (Cold)
Oldtown White Coffee’s Mocha White Coffee (Cold)

Mocha White Coffee is satisfying like most of the white coffee in the café.

Oldtown White Coffee's OLDTOWN White Coffee (Hot)
Oldtown White Coffee’s OLDTOWN White Coffee (Hot)

OLDTOWN White Coffee (Hot) is the original Ipoh Old Town White Coffee and it’s just satiating I could drink this everyday.

Price

  • Curry Chicken Sticky Rice – RM 6.80
  • OLDTOWN Nasi Rendang Chicken – RM 9.50
  • Mocha White Coffee (Cold) – RM 4.80
  • OLDTOWN White Coffee (Hot) – RM 3.20
