Tags: Food Republic, local food, porridge, scallop, You Tiao
You Tiao or more known as “Yau Char Kwai” in Cantonese is a popular dish serves with porridge in Hong Kong but in Malaysia, not many restaurants or kopitiam serves them. In Pavilion KL, there is this You Tiao stall in Food Republic that you may want to check out.

You Tiao’s Set A consists of Porridge with Scallop and one piece of You Tiao
Porridge with Scallop is quite clear and cooked to perfection — that means it’s not too watery or too concentrated. Though there are not many scallops, what do you expect for a bowl of porridge at the price of RM 2.50? The serving is quite small as the porridge is meant for breakfast or snacks and it is not a full meal. The You Tiao (Yau Char Kwai) is however a little too oily but it’s crispy and delicious.
The porridge and You Tiao are sold separately at RM 2.50 and RM 1.30 respectively. However, if you order Set A, you get both of them for only RM 3.50.
Price
- Set A: Porridge with Scallop + 1 piece of You Tiao - RM 3.50

Rama 9 is quite popular with its Thai Food and is one of the favorites in Pavilion KL.

Rama 9’s Green Curry Chicken Spaghetti
Green Curry Chicken Spaghetti is quite unique and one of its kind. As long as the meal is served hot, Green Curry Chicken Spaghetti doesn’t disappoint at all. Not too bad.
Price
- Green Curry Chicken Spaghetti - RM 7.90

Tags: dry chili chicken, local food, nyonya food, Pakcik Cafe, sweet & sour chicken
Right in the ground floor of Kompleks Antarabangsa, just outside Shin-Nichi Japanese Restaurant is Pakcik Cafe which serves Nyonya Food is quite popular during lunch hour on working days.

Pakcik Cafe’s Dry Chili Chicken with Rice
The Dry Chili Chicken with Rice is quite alright considering the affordable price.

Pakcik Cafe’s Sweet & Sour Chicken with Rice
The Sweet & Sour Chicken with Rice is not bad. Quite edible, really.

Pakcik Cafe’s Fresh Lime Juice and Local Coffee
The Fresh Lime Juice might not be the best ever lime juice, although the coffee is slightly alright — what more do you expect for just RM 2.00 for each of these drinks?
Overall, the food are good enough for your weekly lunch, but I don’t suggest you to make it a daily visit. The food is fine, but the service is horrible. If you ever drop by Pakcik Cafe, make sure you come early as the tables are usually all taken by 1pm.

Tags: curry laksa, nasi lemak, Shalala Coffee
If you are going South, you are bound to stop by Seremban rest and service area. You will see Shalala Coffee next to a huge Malay food stalls. If you don’t prefer to eat Malay food, you may want to try Shalala Coffee. Although I would not strongly recommend you.

Shalala Coffee’s Nasi Lemak Otak-otak
One good thing about going south is the availability of Otak-otak. And Nasi Lemak Otak-otak is not too bad even though the sambal is not the best-ever sambal for a nasi lemak, the Otak-otak is still alright.

Shalala Coffee’s Curry Laksa
The Curry Laksa, though lacks a certain flavor.

Shalala Coffee’s Iced Coffee Milk
The Iced Coffee Milk is definitely not the best coffee from Shalala Coffee. There are more milk than any other thing in this drink.
Price
- Curry Laksa - RM 6.60
- Nasi Lemak Otak-Otak - RM 7.40
- Ice Milk Coffee - RM 3.60

Tags: coffee tart, corn tart, curry chicken pie, egg tart, food court, Food Republic, John King, red bean tart
When it comes to tarts, John King in Food Republic in Pavilion KL is quite popular. Aside from the normal Egg tarts, John King sells Durian tarts, Coffee tarts, Corn tarts, Red Bean tarts among others.

Egg Tart (left) and Coffee Tart (right)

Red Bean Tart (left), Corn Tart (right) and Curry Chicken Pie
The Egg Tart is crispy albeit the egg’s part a little too soft. As for the Coffee Tart, I would say just stick to the Egg Tart. Just buy the Egg Tart. Don’t even bother trying the others. The Curry Chicken Pie is as crispy as the Egg Tart and is not too bad.
Price
- Egg Tart - RM 1.60
- Coffee Tart - RM 1.80
- Corn Tart - RM 1.70
- Red Bean Tart - RM 1.70
- Curry Chicken Pie - RM 2.80

Stall 34’s Mee Sua at Asia Cafe
Stall 34’s Mee Sua at Asia Cafe is quite blatant with a flavor of seaweed.

Stall 12’s Buttered Chicken with Rice at Asia Cafe
Buttered Chicken with Rice at Stall 12’s (Thai Food) at Asia Cafe is not too bad. But the price is RM 6.00, slightly on the higher side for butter chicken rice.

March 8th, 2008 — One Utama, Petaling Jaya
Tags: iced coffee, Kluang Station, kopitiam, local food, mee siam, nasi lemak
Kluang Station is not exactly just another kopitiam as its interior design concept is based on old-school train station despite serving the same food like Uncle Lim, Hometown Kopitiam and the likes.

Kluang Station’s Mee Siam
Kluang Station’s Mee Siam does not really taste like Mee Siam. Maybe because it’s not spicy enough or perhaps the chili used is not the right type — or perhaps it’s the sambal which is more towards the sweet side.

Kluang Station’s Nasi Lemak
The nasi lemak in Kluang Station is not too bad. The sambal is the same one used in the Mee Siam, which is sweet and not spicy. The anchovies and peanuts are aplenty.

Kluang Station’s Kopi Cold
One must try the Kopi Cold which is the traditional kopitiam-style coffee — even for the cold version, one can taste the real coffee in it.
Kluang Station in One Utama is located in the Lower Ground Floor in the New Wing.

Curry Sauce

Mushroom Sauce
With so many flavors to choose from, it’s really quite hard to choose. Why not buy them all? They are definitely more delicious than the Chee Cheong Fun at Gurney Drive.
Personally, I like the Cheese Sauce. Even Mr. Chaang said most of his customers preferred the Cheese Sauce as it’s unique and you can’t buy it elsewhere.

Prepackaged Sauce / Toppings
For those customers who would like to bring home the Chee Cheong Fun to share with their family members, and friends, you can buy Log ‘n Roll special ‘hygiene top seal pack’ available in 8 pieces.
